Unit Objectives
- Know a few facts about the history of our modern alphabet.
- Know that there are 26 letters in our alphabet which are divided into two categories – 6 vowels and 20 consonants.
- These letters can be mixed and matched to make 44 sounds!
- Know which letters are vowels and which are consonants.
- Know that vowels can make at least two sounds.
- Be able to say and hear the difference between these vowel sounds.
- Know which sound relates to which letter.
- Know why we need vowels in the English language
- Be able to spell ‘vowel’ and ‘consonant’
