Vowel lesson: long and short /i/
Objectives
- Remember that ‘i’ is a vowel.
- Know how to say the short and long /i/ sounds
- Be able to hear the difference between these short and long /i/ sounds
- Remember key pictures and words ‘ ĭgloo’ and ‘ īce’.
- Know how to write capital and lower case ‘Ii’. The computer type for these can be confusing. I teach
so the letters look very different.
- Be able to differentiate sounds /ĕ/, /ē/, /ĭ/ and / ī /.
- Learn a few interesting facts about igloos.
Tip: dyslexic students find differentiating between /ĕ/, /ē/, /ĭ/ and / ī /. Expect this to take some time to learn.
