Vowel lesson: long and short /o/

Objectives

  • Remember that ‘o’ is a vowel
  • Know how to say the short / ŏ /  and long / ō /
  • Be able to hear the difference between these short and long /o/ sounds
  • Remember key pictures and words ‘ŏctopus’ and ‘ōcean’.
  • Know how to write capital and lower case ‘Oo’. Now that this is different from zero i.e. 0, which is a skinny O.
  • Be able to differentiate between sounds /ĕ/, /ē/, /ĭ/, / ī / and /ŏ/,  /ō/
  • Learn a few interesting facts about octopus.
